Beiseker Fire Department accepts applications on an ongoing basis for both firefighters and officers. Our firefighters staff the hall 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to ensure the fastest possible response times. Firefighters stay at the hall for 24 hour shifts conducting training, community engagement and fire prevention activities, as well as cooking together and sleeping at the hall. This model enables the department to extend membership to firefighters outside of the response area. There is no residency requirement.

Firefighters

​

Must be: 

- 18 years old +

- Physically and medically fit for a demanding work environment

-Standard First Aid CPR Level C

-Criminal Record & Vulnerable sector check must be completed

-3 year drivers abstract

​

Recruits must be willing to attend training as directed by training staff. Experienced firefighters may be exempt from recruit training.

​

Preferred Qualifications

- NFPA 1001 lvl 2 & NFPA 1072 (Formally 472)

-MFR, EMR, or PCP

-Class 1,2,or 3 drivers license with Q endorsement

Captains

Reporting to the Deputy Chief, the Captain oversees firefighters in routine station duties, acts as the company officer at emergency scenes, and acts as the incident commander in the absence of a chief officer. Other duties may include basic administration of volunteer firefighters, community engagement, public education and pre-planning.

 

NFPA 1021 Officer 1 and

 

NFPA 1041 Instructor 1 certification

 

will be provided to suitable candidates.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

NFPA 1001 lvl 2

CPR Lvl C

 

Consideration will be given to a combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Beiseker Fire Department operations, NFPA 1521, 1002, or 1041 is an asset.

 

Please note this is an unpaid position consisting of at least two 24 hour (6pm-6pm) shifts per month at the fire hall. Residence in Beiseker is not required.

 

Must be willing to attend NFPA 1021, 1041 and other training as directed.
